Bath
|
|
This must be one of my favourite destinations on our England tour. It's filled with so many interesting sights and buildings. No wonder it's on UNESCO's world heritage list. There are only two cities in the British Isles that lay claim to that title... the other one being Edinburgh (I've been there too!!). Yang lain2 are just world heritage site.
Bath has much more to offer than just the Roman bath. This was also the birthplace of Georgian architecture. This was the lepak place for the British royals and nobles.
We spent the night here, which also afforded me the opportunity to go out and get some night shots.
First destination... the Roman bath

Bibury and rolling hills of England
|
|
We stopped at many towns today but sadly I have no photos to show
But luckily I managed to take some shots at Bibury... which was one of the most *fairy tale* towns on this trip. It was drizzling but that didn't stop me. Nor does the fact that there's hardly any space for parking... this was obviously a very popular spot for tourists, and who would blame them.
Pretty... pretty town

Gloucester & the cathedral
|
|
First destination for the day is Gloucester. Today we're driving south from Cheltenham towards Bristol.
I wanted to visit the Gloucester Cathedral because of the famed arched lattice carving work... not sure what it is called actually. Am glad that I did because it was just so amazing how people from zaman dulu could create something so magnificent. And because they filmed Harry Potter here, hehe...

Remaining images of Cotswolds

I can't remember what photos for which town... all I can recall is that each town was unique yet similar. Some were on flat lands while some on hills. Each had its own character.

Broadway

Broadway was one of my favourite towns... the main street was lined with shops, and since it nestled just bawah bukit, it was also quite picturesque

The town is actually much prettier than this... very quaint and with the trademark yellow stone buildings.

Day 3 of our road trip was unfortunately amidst grey skies. So not cooperative for photo taking
But that's not going to stop us from enjoying the scenery... come rain may.
The route that we were taking for this day involved driving through
Winchcombe
Stanway
Stanton
Broadway
Snowshill
Chipping Campden
Moreton-in-Marsh
Stow-on-the-Wold
Lower Slaughter
Upper Slaughter
Bourton-on-the-Water
Cheltenham
We tried to stop at as many places as possible, but since the weather wasn't really cooperating and I didn't want to get wet, we chose to stop at some of the major ones je.
But it was a great drive... through the country side. Some roads were so small that it would be quite a challenge bila kereta selisih. Sampai Mama had to tanya a few times lah... "Are we on the right road?"
Since I did the driving, Papa became the photographers who was tasked to capture all the beauty that laid in front of us. To make things easy, he used the IXUS... which you would know by now, all the gambar dah hilang. There were so many interesting vistas... but what to do

Bright yellow as far as the eyes can see
|
|
While driving through England, we were greeted by fields after fields of yellow. At first I thought they were daffodil... turned out to be jasmine.
I was extremely excited when we came across an area where we could drive right through... jakun!! hehehehe
Sepanjang mata memandang... kuning je. Actually from masa nak landing I've noticed it, and while driving I repeatedly screamed out to the dismay of my parents, hahaha. And I finally got the shot that I wanted.
Too bad the lighting wasn't that great... rather overcast. But oh well... it was great nonetheless
